| Site Waste Management Plans |
With effect from 6th April 2008 all construction projects (including domestic) that have a value in excess of £300,000 ex VAT will have by law to produce and implement a Site Waste Management Plan (SWMP).
The Purpose of the plan is to address two keys issues:-
In the SWMP, forecasts are required to be made of quantities of each type of waste that will be produced on site and how it will be managed.
This live document will then be used to log actual types and amounts of waste produced and a record of
How it was disposed of
Who was responsible for the disposal both on site and the licensed contractor
Where it was disposed of
The amount in weight
The responsibility for this document falls with the client and the principal contractor and must be developed before work commences. Non compliance will result in stiff penalties – up to £50,000 fine in magistrates Court and unlimited fines in Crown Court.
AF Consulting Risk Management team are able to assist you through this maze. We will, with the aid of all involved parties
If you would like more information on the SWMP or if you have a project that you believe will be subject to this legislation, then please call us on 01594 836141 and ask to speak to the Risk Management team, alternatively e mail us at
